Studies in African Archaeology

The publication series “Studies in African Archaeology” (SAA) has been published since 1984 by the Archaeological Museum in Poznań (PL ISSN 0866-9244). The series publishes monographs on the prehistory of northeastern Africa as well as papers from the conference series “Later Prehistory of Northeastern Africa” (LPNEA) which has been taking place in Poland every four years since 1980.

an account of studies that were conducted from 2015 to 2018, as part of a project
entitled "The Development of the Early Neolithic Societies in Lower Egypt in the 5th
Millennium BC and their Interactions with the Southern Levant", financed by the National
Science Centre Poland. One focus is on investigations into the origins of Neolithic pottery in Lower Egypt.

Volume 6 of Studies in African Archaeology was scheduled for publication in 1987.
After more than 30 years, the volume, which was to present the results of the archaeological excavations carried out in Kadero between 1972 and 1982, was published. Since many of the results planned for publication at the time have since been overtaken by new findings, the present volume now presents the ceramics from the sites of Shaqadud, Geili, Ghaba, Kadada, Umm Direiwa and Zakiab, among others.
