In his work „Altsprachliche Erwachsenendidaktik in Deutschland. Von den Anfängen bis zum Jahr 1945“ Marc Brüssel systematically analyses the development of teaching methodology for classical language studies in adult education as a sub discipline of educational sciences. His main emphasis lies on preparatory courses and exams for language competence in Ancient Greek (Graecum) and Latin (Latinum) at universities as well as on teaching aids for classical language classes directed at adults.
