Sasanian Elements in Byzantine, Caucasian and Islamic Art and Culture
A newly published conference volume deals with the empire of the Persian Sasanids (AD 224-651), which spanned areas of today's Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Many elements of Sasanian art and culture can be found in neighboring countries such as Byzantium or the Christian Caucasus and lived on in the Islamic territories after their demise. The articles deal with the continuing role of the Sasanian Persians and their culture.
