Cursus studiorum

Festschrift für Günther Schörner zum 65. Geburtstag

This Festschrift matches the primary research interests of Classical archaeologist Günther Schörner: settlement and landscape archaeology, sculpture, architectural ornaments, iconography, religion, and material culture are discussed in the contributions. The chronological frame expands from the Geometric period until today; and the geographical setting covers areas from Spain to the Near East. In this way, the publication references and celebrates the scientific work of Günther Schörner, which – like a life-long cursus studiorum – led him to various cities, universities, and countries with significant archaeological material from the Graeco-Roman World.

Lina Diers studies Roman pottery production in Bulgaria as a postdoctoral researcher at the Austrian Archaeological Institute/Austrian Academy of Sciences (2022–2025).

Dominik Hagmann specialises in Archaeology of the Roman Provinces with a clear focus on Digital Archaeology.

Basema Hamarneh is professor for Late Antiquity and Early Christian Archaeology at the Institute of Classical Archaeology of the University of Vienna since 2017.

Julia Kopf held the position of a research assistant at the Institute of Classical Archaeology at the University of Vienna from 2018–2024.

Hadwiga Schörner studied pottery for the CVA as a postdoctoral researcher at the Austrian Archaeological Institute/Austrian Academy of Sciences from 2021–2024.
