Propylaeum

Volume 46 of the series Schweizer Beiträge zur Kulturgeschichte und Archäologie des Mittelalters presents the result of the excavations in Altreu in the canton of Solothurn. All the elements of a medieval town, such as the town fortifications, the town castle and the residential buildings facing the alley, have been coherently demonstrated. After a fire catastrophe in the second half of the 14th century, the small town was abandoned and fell into oblivion. Therefore, the traces are preserved and handed down with numerous findings.
