Adalberto Ottati, Maria Serena Vinci (Hrsg.), From the Quarry to the Monument. The Process behind the Process: Design and Organization of the Work in Ancient Architecture
The contributions to the panel aim to explore ancient construction, working practices, and the transmission of technical expertise by skilled workers. Quarry marks and stonemason's marks are two aspects of the implementation of the construction plan and the organizational processes within the building procedures. They represent guidelines that were used to design a building and position stone and marble elements. These processes and thoughts on the interconnection of the workshops are the basis for discussion in the volume.
