Two Roman villas on the northern edge of the Mayen mill quarries were investigated with geophysical measurements, excavations, geoarchaeological and botanical surveys, and their surroundings were explored. The resulting findings should clarify how the numerous workers with their families, who settled in the area between Mayen on the edge of the Eifel and Andernach on the Rhine from the beginning of the Roman imperial period, could have been fed.
