Michael Herdick , Angelika Hunold , Holger Schaaff (Hrsg.), Pre-modern Industrial Districts
Volume 14 of the Archaeology and Economy in the Ancient World – Proceedings of the 19th International Congress of Classical Archaeology, Cologne/Bonn 2018 contains the quarry and mining district near Mayen in the Eastern Eifel, the starting point for the production of millstones, ceramics etc., which were exported to large parts of Europe for many centuries. The industrial area of supra-regional importance serves as a case study for the exploration of pre-modern industrial areas in general, but also for the derivation of a model for the investigation of ancient industries.
