Andreas Thiel und Sarah Roth: Vicus Aurelianus. Das römische Öhringen
Öhringen around 200 AD: Several hundred soldiers in two forts guard the nearby Limes. Their families, traders and craftsmen live around the military camps. The settlement vicus Aurelianus is an important post of the Roman Empire on the border to the Germanic tribes. As early as the 18th century, antiquity researchers recognised the importance of the site. This volume of the series Archäologische Informationen aus Baden-Württemberg presented the Limes World Heritage Site and especially the rich Roman heritage in Öhringen to a broad public and also shows that archaeological research has lost none of its fascination to this day.
