Propylaeum

The newly published volume is dedicated to the 'main church' of al-Andarin, the investigation of which was started in 2010 with a research project of the University of Heidelberg. Although only one excavation campaign could be undertaken because of the Syrian war, first results are available on the typological classification of the 'main church' in the early Byzantine church building of Syria as well as the consideration of the ensemble in its urbanistic context. Finally, in a contribution by N. Viermann some inscriptions newly discovered in 2010 are published and the state of research on the Greek epigraphy of al-Andarin is summarized.
