Oedenburg. Fouilles françaises, allemandes et suisses à Biesheim et Kunheim, Haut-Rhin, France
The Oedenburg site on the banks of the Rhine in Alsace comprises two military camps dating back to the Julio-Claudian period, as well as a settlement from the 1st century AD, which survived into the early Middle Ages. In addition, a number of large buildings from the time of Emperor Valentinian (ca. 4th century AD) were discovered, which are comparable in their layout to a similar fortress near Trier - albeit much larger in size. Oedenburg is regarded as an example of the development from a purely military camp to an imperial seat of power in more peaceful times. This three-volume publication is dedicated to the finds and their significance, the architecture of the camps and the settlement.

Oedenburg: Volume 1: Les camps militaires julio-claudiens
The first volume of the final publication analyses the architecture and historical significance of the Roman camp built on the frontier of the empire under Tiberius, before it was rebuilt under Claudius and abandoned after the conquest of the Decumates (agri decumates).
Oedenburg: Volume 2: L’agglomération civile et les sanctuaires 1 – Fouilles
The second volume of the excavations at Oedenburg presents the investigations in different areas of the civil settlement. The diversity of the excavated zones and a very extensive geomagnetic survey allow a spatial approach to the civic agglomeration and an evaluation of its chronological sequence and the level of material development.

Oedenburg: Volume 3: L’agglomération civile (fouilles 2009-2012)
The third volume of the Oedenburg excavation publication analyses two civilian settlement areas near the Valentinian fort of Altkirch, with a settlement stratigraphy from the Tiberian period to the beginning of the 5th century with an interruption of about 50 years from about 270/280. It also contains studies on pottery, coins, Merovingian weapons as well as metal workshops, palynology, archaeobotany and fauna.
