Siedlungsmuster der allerødzeitlichen Federmessergruppen in Niederbieber, Stadt Neuwied
The eruption of the Laacher See volcano around 11000 BC sealed the landscape of the Middle Rhine with a thick layer of pumice. In an incomparable snapshot, the relief of the terrain, the remains of vegetation and fauna have been preserved, as well as many indications of human use of the region.
The Niederbieber site is of outstanding archaeological importance. In an area of about 1000 m2, a considerable number of find concentrations have been uncovered, providing an insight into the settlement processes of the Late Neolithic Federmesser groups that is otherwise almost impossible to grasp.
In his book, the author analyses the finds and features from the central area of Niederbieber. The results of his investigations provide new insights into the activities carried out at the site, the duration of occupation of the concentration of finds, and the way of life of the people at the end of the Ice Age.
