Ernst G. Jung
Kultur und Geschichte
Driven by growing interest, our skin is much discussed, esteemed and occasionally also abused. Skin and skin care have changed over time from early history to today. Beauty and ugliness complement each other to create a new quality of attractiveness. In addition, some historical reminiscences are presented to confirm the great interest in our skin, its cultural and historical relevance.
Ernst G. Jung studied medicine at the Universities of Zurich and Kiel, became a dermatologist in Zurich and served for 20 years as full professor in his field at the Mannheim Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University. He focused on dermato-oncology, clinical genetics, photobiology and especially the light-dependent hereditary disease Xeroderma pigmentosum. Today he is particularly concerned with the culture and history of skin.
