Die Glyptothek am Königsplatz im Spiegel der Zeit

Zur baulichen Ausführung und Skulptur

The Glyptothek has undergone various transformations over time, which are reflected in its architecture, function and positioning of the exhibition pieces. In the past, the ten halls were richly decorated with stucco and painting, and the sculptures were mainly placed at the edges. Today, the works stand in the middle of the room, to be seen from all sides, against the backdrop of the plain brick walls and ceilings. A special focus in the collection is the Barberine Faun, which has gone through several stages of change, both restoration and de-restauration since its rediscovery in the 17th century.
