Performing ARTS Books

From modern dance, singing, costume and make-up design to musicals, opera and spoken theatre, the performing arts encompass an enormous spectrum of content-related facets as well as artistic forms of expression. They are characterised by their ephemeral nature: the works of the performing arts are fleeting and defy archiving. Their research is based on documents that have very different relationships to the respective work and that may have been created in different phases of the artistic process.

The publications in the Performing ARTS Books series explore the performing arts and the medial transmission of corresponding sources from different perspectives. The series is a co-operation between the Specialised Information Services for the Performing Arts (FID DK) and for Photography, Art and Design (arthistoricum.net). Performing ARTS Books publishes works by theatre and dance scholars at all stages of their academic careers as well as by practitioners of the performing arts. The series also includes academic conference proceedings and publications by professional associations.
