„Das größte lösbare Problem der Welt“
Die mediale Vernachlässigung des Globalen Hungers
Hunger is one of the most basic human experiences. Around one in ten people in the world suffers from hunger. Every day, around 24,000 people die as a result of hunger, about one child under the age of 5 every 13 seconds. However, hunger is by no means an inevitable fate. The United Nations World Food Programme describes hunger as “the world's biggest solvable problem”. Politically and in the media, however, the topic is radically neglected. In this study, 39 media were analysed, including over 8,000 editions of news programmes, around 500 episodes of political talk shows and more than 1,000 editions of print media with around 37,000 printed pages.
